This bag pattern has been in the making for over a year. I made my first sample out of an old Amy Butler print that is an all-time favorite of mine. I thought to myself, “If this doesn’t work out, and I only manage to make it once, I want to use fabric I will love for a long time.” To my surprise and joy, it worked out really well and just took me a little while to get the pattern finalized. I’ve now made 4 of these bags and have 3 others in the works. It’s addicting! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
This bag has 4 separate vinyl zipper compartments. The pockets in the body of the bag have significant depth to them, so they will hold a lot of things. The two removable vinyl snap pockets make it easy to see what’s inside.
I named this pattern after another favorite niece. I have lots of favorites. Truvy was my first niece and is one of the biggest hearted kids I know! I can’t wait to get her one of her own Truvy bags and imagine it will be filled with all her stuffed animals. Love you Truv.
While designing this pattern, I used all my favorite Byannie’s supplies and notions such as: Soft and Stable, Handbag Zippers, and a Magnetic sew-in snap. I also used metal snaps in this pattern—a first for me, but I quickly discovered how easy they were to install. Check out this new YouTube video that shows how to install metal snaps using a heavy-duty snap pliers.
I’ve always loved working with vinyl, but it can be a challenge. I made a video with some tips for sewing vinyl as a companion to my Hello Pouches pattern, and I’ll share it here again because it could be helpful as you’re sewing the Truvy Bag as well.
I can’t wait to see what you fill your truly bag with! I have a few ideas of how I want to use my bag shown below. Remember to share yours with this hashtag: #thetruvybag. Thanks to my good friend Kristen of @kperreaultcreates for taking these photos for me! I made this version of the Truvy Bag out of Kimberly Kights upcoming collection called Smol for Ruby Star Society. Counting the days till I can get my hands on more!
Check out these photos from a few of my amazing pattern testers!
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my new pattern. I hope you love it as much as I do! If you’d like to grab a finishing kit to make one of your own Truvy bags do so here:
