Quilt Donation Drive Blog Hop 2025

Join the Quilt Donation Drive Blog Hop!

I’m thrilled to be part of the Quilt Donation Drive Blog Hop, and I invite YOU to join us in spreading awareness and making an impact. Your voice, creativity, and generosity can inspire others to get involved and contribute their handmade quilts to children in need.

Here’s are some of the ways you can participate:

  • Make a quilt: Every quilt makes a difference.

  • Share on social media: Use #QuiltDonationDrive and tag @ComfortCases to spread the word.

  • Encourage others: Invite fellow quilters, guilds, and sewing groups to join in!

Let’s come together as a community to bring warmth, love, and comfort to children in foster care. Thank you for being part of this important initiative—every quilt and every share counts!

Fat Quarter Pile Up: A Quick and Meaningful Quilt for a Cause

I wanted to share with you all my simple easy Fat Quarter Pile up pattern, beyond being a fast and fun make, the Fat Quarter Pile Up pattern is also a wonderful way to contribute to this meaningful cause. This quilt is a perfect project for the Quilt Donation Drive, which supports Comfort Cases—an organization dedicated to providing comfort and dignity to children in foster care.

If you love quilting but sometimes find yourself short on time, my Fat Quarter Pile Up quilt pattern is the perfect project for you! Designed to be simple yet striking, this lap size quilt top comes together in two hours or less and requires only 12 fat quarters—making it ideal for quilters of all skill levels. The pattern also includes a baby size and a twin size.

I learned earlier this year that many children entering the foster care system are given nothing more than a trash bag for their belongings. This knowledge was where the inspiration came to my friend Laurel (@snowberrystreet) to do the Duffle Drive Sewalong that we hosted earlier this year, for children in Foster Care. We had such a great time hosting that sewalong and we are ready to donate all these Duffle bags to our local Foster care community. You can find all the details of our Patchwork Duffle Donations here.

So when I heard about this initiative was was thrilled to continue to help the Foster Care Community, through the Quilt Donation Drive, we can offer warmth and love by gifting them beautiful handmade quilts to call their own. Every stitch carries a message of care and hope, reminding them that they are valued and supported.

I created my version using one of Maker Valley's color bundles, (+ I added 2 of my own fat quarters) and I absolutely love how vibrant and playful the fabrics turned out. Whether you choose a coordinated bundle or mix and match from your stash, this quilt is sure to come together beautifully!

We quilted up my Fat Quarter Pile Up with the Rainbow Hearts pantograph and used some cuddly 90'' wide minky for the backing. So excited to bind this and get this off to Comfort Causes.

Thank you for posting about this project! This kind of cause is near and dear to my heart. For many years, I’ve been donating to a Texas non-profit that gives new, fully stocked backpacks to foster kids called Carrying Hope. I am just realizing that I need to get your small backpack pattern and make those to donate!
