We had such a great time sewing with you this year in our Patchwork Duffle and Patchwork Duffle Mini sew-along. We added an element of service sewing into the sew-along this year as well but also hosting our first ever "Duffle Drive 25". Sharing all the resources we shared during the sewalong in one place so you can reference it all here.
Catch the Weekly Live's we recorded on my Youtube Channel Here:
Week 1: Collecting Supplies
Week 2: Quilting + Cutting + Handles
Week 3: Assembly + Zipper + Binding
Week 4: (Recap) THANK YOU!
Also I made a few Reel's that I shared on my Instagram that I think will be great resources if you are making a duffle as well! Linked here:
Reel 1 : Joining Binding Ends
Reel 2: Clipping in End Panel
Reel 3: End Panel Binding

The Duffle Drive part of the sew-along all came about when my friend Laurel (@snowberrystreet) asked if we could share a cause that she had just learned out in the foster community. So we teamed up to do a Drive to collect bags for Foster Children. You know I can't resist a good cause to help out others.
So while we welcomed so many new Duffle bag-makers into the sew-along we had many repeat Duffle bag makers join us and make some beautiful bags to be donated.

This post like the one above have really inspired me to think outside the box in how I can use my sewing skills to bless more of my community! Let me know if you have other ideas how to do this! Thank you so much @laughterinquilts for your inspiring donation.
I wanted to leave a resources list here that we will try to keep updated for a reference for places to donate bags for Foster Care Children. (please email me if you have more we can add to this list!)

Option 1- Donate your duffle in your own community Our research suggests that each state's foster system operates independently and differently. However, as we called around to different states to inquire, the common theme was DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services). Call the office closest to where you live and if they can't take donations, they should know who can. If asked, please designate your donation as an unrestricted donation so the duffle can go to any child in the foster care system. Other ideas to contact are police stations, shelters, teen crisis centers, school counselors/social workers, and any current foster parents you personally know. Your fellow duffle makers sent in these ideas as well:
NE Oklahoma--Fostering Hope https://www.fosteringhopemuskogee.org/about
SE Idaho--The Village https://idfapa.org/the-village/
Billings, Montana--Tumbleweed https://www.tumbleweedprogram.org/
Dorchester, Massachusetts--Zion Cares Foster Closet https://zcfcinc.org/about-us
Mobile, Alabama (also serves parts of Florida)--Building Families https://www.buildingfamiliesministries.org/
Project Linus, selected states https://www.projectlinus.org
Medford, Oregon -- Hearts With a Mission https://heartswithamission.org/
Option 2- Mail your duffle to us and we'll donate them locally in Utah or drop it off yourself If you simply cannot find a place local to you or you live in or near Utah County, this is the option for you! Carmen Hall at Utah Foster Care in Orem, Utah was so excited to take my call about our project! She told me she is frequently contacted by social workers asking for luggage and bags. Utah Foster Care has 5 regional offices, so if Orem is too far for you, check out the website for a closer office. https://utahfostercare.org/about-us/contact-us/ Send an email to me if you would like to send over your Duffle donation and we can get your bag to where it will be helpful.
